General Storage Questions
What is self storage?
Self storage is a service where you rent a secure storage unit to store your belongings. You load and access your items yourself, with flexible access for a minimum period of 10 weeks.
How does self storage work?
You choose a unit size and location then move your items in. You can access your unit 24/7, adding or removing items as needed.
Where is Storageplus located?
Storage Plus operates several self-storage facilities across Christchurch, including Addington, Belfast, Hornby, Riccarton, Sydenham, Wigram, and Rolleston.
What can I store in my storage unit?
You can store almost anything in our units, including household items, furniture, boxes, business stock, and equipment. Storage units are suitable for both personal and commercial storage needs.
Can I work on my car in my unit?
We are a storage only facility. We do not allow any mechanical or automotive work of any kind.
Access, Security & Insurance
How secure are Storageplus units?
Storageplus facilities are highly secure. Each unit is individually alarmed and monitored 24/7 security by Triton Security. Access is controlled via secure gates for authorised users only, with additional fencing, lighting, and padlock options for extra protection.
Can I access my storage unit at anytime?
Yes, our facilities are open 24/7, you can come and go from your unit any time you please (including on public holidays).
Will my unit have power and lighting?
Our units all have power and lighting except for our Sydenham facility. All our facilities are all well floodlit at night
Are my goods insured?
All our units are insurance approved, which means your current contents insurer will cover your goods while in storage with us, as long as you retain cover with them.
Unit Sizes & Flexibility
What sizes of storage units are available?
Storageplus offers a range of unit sizes, from small lockups to large rooms suitable for furniture, vehicles, or business inventory.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Our minimum lease is 10 weeks.
Pricing & Payments
How much do a storage unit cost?
Storageplus storage unit costs depend on unit size and location, with smaller units typically starting from around $35 per week and larger spaces increasing based on the amount of storage required. For exact pricing options, select a location on our pricing page.
How can I pay my fees, and can this be weekly or monthly?
We accept several kinds of payment, so you can choose whatever option suits your cashflow best. We will help you set up an Automatic Payment for a frequency that works for you. fsd
Is there a bond?
Yes, a refundable bond of just $50 is required when you start renting a storage unit. It will be returned to you when your unit is clear, and your access card has been returned.
Moving or Vacating
Do you have a trailer available?
Yes. Our furniture trailer is available for free use by unit holders. You can book via email to info@storageplus.co.nz. The trailer is available for full days during the week and half days in the weekends.
What notice do I need to give when I leave?
We require two weeks’ notice when you leave. This allows us to advertise your unit again.
